Virgin of Candelaria Festival Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity

Every February, the shores of Lake Titicaca become the setting for one of Peru’s most colorful and joyful celebrations. The Virgin of Candelaria Festival brings together Catholic religious traditions and deeply rooted Andean customs. Puno is widely celebrated for its folklore, and dances such as the Diablada are among the festival’s most striking expressions.
